GO Transit Student Identification Card Application Process

York University students can apply on-line for their GO Transit Student Identification Card. Please note that this GO Transit Student Identification Card is only available for full time enrolled and registered students. In the application you will be provided with the following options:

  • have the card mailed
  • pick it up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the William Small Centre
  • pick it up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the Glendon Greenhouse at the Glendon Campus.

How do I apply for a GO student ID?

If you are a registered, full-time student please use the on-line system to apply for a GO student ID.
You have the option of having the card mailed to you or you can pick it up at the Parking & Transportation Office at William Small Centre.

An undergraduate student is deemed by the University to be full-time if s/he takes the equivalent of 18 credits or more over the F/W sessions, or 9 credits or more for the Summer session. Graduate students are deemed full-time based on their registration. For further information regarding exceptions, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

Why do I need a GO student ID?

You can save up to 22.5% on your fare with a GO approved student ID and you PRESTO™ card.

Is there a cost for the GO approved student ID?

There is no cost for the GO approved student ID.

I applied on-line for my GO Student ID, where will I get the card?

You have the option of having the card mailed to you or you can pick it up at the Parking & Transportation Office at William Small Centre.

I must take the GO bus to get to school. Where will it drop me?

If you take the GO to York, your service will end at Highway 407 Station. From there you must take the subway to either Pioneer Village Station or York University Station. You will be required to pay the TTC fare. Currently GO Transit offers a discounted double fare (DDF) with the TTC. You will $1.50 instead of the full $3 when you use the TTC when transferring from GO Transit buses to the subway, using your PRESTO™ card.

Procedures for Lost Cards

Please note that if you have lost your GO Transit Student Identification Card, in order to obtain a new card you will be required to go in person, go to the Parking & Transportation  Office which is located in 222 William Small Centre to declare the card as lost.
