NOTICE: Metropass program being discontinued by TTC

Please note that TTC’s Metropass Volume Incentive Program (VIP), will end as of the end of this year. As the TTC continues its transition to PRESTO, the Metropass program, including the TTC’s Metropass Volume Incentive Program (VIP), will end as of December 31, 2018.

Employees, who are interested in purchasing a discounted monthly pass on PRESTO, can sign up for the 12 Month Pass. This pass requires a 12-month commitment, costs $134 per month and provides the same unlimited travel as the Metropass Discount Plan (MDP) pass. Information about the 12 Month Pass is available at

Alternatively, employees can also purchase a TTC Monthly Pass on PRESTO. This pass requires no commitment, costs $146.25 and provides the same unlimited travel as a regular Metropass. Information about the TTC Monthly Pass is available at

PLEASE NOTE: TTC will Discontinue the VIP Program in 2018

Please be advised that the Toronto Transit Commission expects to migrate the Metropass Volume Incentive Program (VIP) to the PRESTO Metropass Discount Plan in 2018.

Current VIP customers may continue to purchase passes through VIP until that time.

The new PRESTO Metropass Discount Plan will be similar to the current TTC Metropass Discount Plan.  Once the transition to PRESTO occurs, companies will no longer be able to administer the program as customers will be able to sign up individually.  Participation in the PRESTO VIP plan requires customers to commit to purchasing the Metropass each month, for one year in order to receive an 8% discount.  Customers will receive the same access to the TTC system as they do today with any Metropass (unlimited travel for one month).

Once full details regarding the transition have been finalized, the TTC will advise us and we will communicate any information to customers that purchase through the VIP Program at York University. Additionally, TTC has posted limited information on their website.

Staff & Faculty Discounted TTC Metropasses

TTC monthly Metropasses are sold for $130.25 which is at a discounted rate of approximately 11% off the regular price of $146.25 per month. Passes are available at the Parking & Transportation office, located at 222 William Small Centre, to any current Staff or Faculty member. Please note that interested staff/faculty must provide photo I.D. (i.e. driver's license, passport, or health card) and a current Employee pay stub or Sunlife Member card , in order to confirm York University status. On-Line TTC Metropass Renewals

COST: $130.25 per calendar month while quantities last.
To be eligible to renew your TTC Metropass online you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a current staff or faculty member of York University with a valid Passport York Account
  • You must have purchased one TTC Metropass in person from Parking & Transportation Services

Payment may be made on-line by Visa, MasterCard or Amex

TTC Metropasses may be picked up at Keele Campus from Parking & Transportation Services located in Room 222 William Small Centre or at the Glendon Parking Office located at the Glendon Greenhouse, during regular business hours. You may choose to have your TTC Metropass mailed to your home or local address. Lost or stolen TTC Metropasses cannot be replaced by our office but can be obtained through regular TTC outlets for the standard TTC price. Parking & Transportation Services will not be responsible for any TTC Metropasses that are lost in the mail.

Federal Tax Credit Information

TTC Post-Secondary Student Metropass

Student can purchase the TTC Post-Secondary Student Metropasses through the York Federations of Students.  For more information, go to the YFS website.

TTC Photo Identification Card

Procedures for York University Students to obtain a TTC photo identification Card to Purchase Post-Secondary Student TTC Metropasses:

  • Obtain your photo identification.

You must bring the following items to the Sherbourne Subway Station when
going to get your identification card:

  • Your York University student card.
  • A printed confirmation of enrolment and registration, confirming your enrolment as a full-time student (available online at
  • $7 cash, exact change – no debit or credit cards.
